Was a member of the Lamorinda Club Team that placed second in the 2006 Pan Pacific Games in New Zealand

Has several relatives (both parents) who attended Cal and competed in athletics, including father, John, who played water polo from 1977-80, and uncle, Peter, who was Cal's first water polo NCAA Player of the Year in 1973
Cousin, Charles Steffens, is also a senior on the 2010 Cal men's water polo team
