Biography
Cal Success:
- Played the role of primary backup as a sophomore in 2017 and made 73 saves in 26.5 quarters played.
- Finished the season with averages of 11.02 saves per game and 7.40 goals against.
- Made 12 saves in a Triton Invitational win over host UC San Diego on Sept. 2 and followed that up with 13 more stops against Long Beach State the next day.
- Also finished the 2017 season with eight steals and three assists.
- Made his collegiate debut on Sept. 23, 2016 and made four saves in two quarters of a 22-3 win over Whittier as part of the Mountain Pacific Invitational in Berkeley.
- Appeared in two quarters as a redshirt freshman in 2016, allowing three goals and making four saves.
- 6-foot-5 goalkeeper joined the Bears in 2015 and redshirted.
High School/National/Club Success:
- Attended nearby Campolindo High School in Moraga, Calif. Was a member of the varsity water polo and swim teams for three years.
- High achiever in the classroom was award the Scholar-Athlete award at Campolindo three times. Earned an underclassman academic achievement award in both science/geology and learning skills. Also named a USA Water Polo Academic All-American.
- Ninth-team high school All-American in 2014. Named the North Coast Section's Most Valuable Goalie in 2015.
- Also played for the 680 Drivers Water Polo Club and was named Iron Man MVP Goalie in 2015.
- Given the Nick Johnson Inspiration Award by USA Water Polo in 2015. The award is given to athletes on a yearly basis that fully embody the vision and values of the Olympic Development Program.
Personal:
- Parents are Allan and Shannan Tagg.
- Has a twin sister, Madison, who plays for the Cal women's water polo team.
