In nine years at the helm of Cal men’s swimming and diving, Durden has established the Bears as a perennial national power with three NCAA titles (2011, 2012, 2014) and seven top-two finishes. He is a four-time NCAA Coach of the Year and six-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year and his swimmers have captured 35 NCAA and 63 Pac-12 titles. Internationally, he served as head coach of Team USA at the 2015 FINA World Championships and has been an assistant at the Pan-Pacific Games, World Championships and Duel in the Pool. At the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, five swimmers (Nathan Adrian, Ryan Murphy, Jacob Pebley, Josh Prenot and Tom Shields) who train under Durden in Berkeley qualified for the Rio Olympics and he was named Coach of the Meet.
