Chris Coffee begins his seventh season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Golden Bears.

Coffee competed for four years on the Cal cross country and track and field teams, emerging as the Bears' top 3000-meter steeplechase runner as a senior. At the 2001 Pac-10 Championships, Coffee finished sixth in the event with a collegiate PR of 9:02.31. Coffee's career best was 8:59.72 in 2002. A Walnut Creek, Calif. native, Coffee graduated from Cal in 2001 with a degree in architecture and is a successful architect in Berkeley.
