Cayley Thurlby is in her first season as the Director of Operations for the California beach volleyball program. Thurlby comes to Berkeley from UCLA, where she spent the previous five years as the Director of Operations for both the Bruins' men's and indoor volleyball programs.
Thurlby played indoor volleyball at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. She served as team captain while making two NCAA Final Four appearances. She also played professionally in Spain and Argentina and was active on the AVP Tour for four years.
Thurlby double-majored in Business Administration and Broadcast Journalism at Hawaii and was a three-time Western Athletic Conference All-Academic selection.
Thurlby finished fourth at the NORCECA tour events in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic and Puerta Vallarta, Mexico in 2010. She competed on the Young Guns tour that same year on the AVP Tour and finished first at a stop in Milwaukee and second in Long Beach, N.Y. and Hermosa Beach.
Thurlby also founded and owns her own vintage furniture business known as Upside Down Frown.
