Spring 2021: With a 20-3 record, including an 8-0 record on court five, 11-3 record on court six and 9-1 Pac-12 record, Bright led the Golden Bears in singles wins in the 2021 season…has recorded 96 career singles victories and played in 75 consecutive dual matches for the Bears…the third clinching win of her career came in Cal’s 4-1 win over Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship semifinals, with Bright beating Emma Higuchi, 7-6(4) 6-2, on court six…in the Pac-12 final vs. UCLA, Bright defeated Annette Goulak, 6-0, 6-3, to help Cal beat the Bruins, 4-2…ended her senior year on a six-match winning streak in singles, including a 6-2, 6-1 win over San Jose State’s Raquel Villan Pereira in the NCAA Championship first round and a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kentucky’s Fiona Arrese in the second round of the postseason…Bright posted a 14-8 doubles record this season, including a 13-6 mark on court two with Hannah Viller Moeller…in that Pac-12 semi vs. Stanford, Bright and Viller Moeller clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Emily Arbuthnott and Angelica Blake…the Cal pair won its last three matches, including a 6-0 result over SJSU’s Tamara Culibrk and Irena Muradyan and a 6-1 triumph over Kentucky’s Ana Tkachenko and Carla Girbau in the NCAA tournament...earned the Golden Bear Award for compiling the team's highest GPA for the 2020-21 academic season.
Spring 2020: A member of the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll and the CoSIDA Women's At-Large District 8 first team, Bright was also named an ITA Scholar-Athlete as a junior...on the court, she finished the season with a 14-11 record and a 17-10 doubles mark…won two of her last three singles matches, including a 6-1, 6-1 victory over San Diego State’s Julia Jordan and a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over USC’s Ana Neffa…also captured two of her last three doubles matches, including (with Alexis Nelson) a 6-3 win over SDSU’s Abbie Mulbarger and Nnena Nadozie and (with Jessica Zeynel) a 6-4 win over USC’s Estella Jaeger and Danielle Willson…was ranked 31st in doubles with Haley Giavara in the Oracle ITA poll from March 3.
Fall 2019: Posted an 8-8 singles record and 12-5 doubles mark…the Cal junior earned a No. 100 singles ranking and two doubles rankings – No. 13 with Haley Giavara and No. 55 with Valentina Ivanov – in the last Oracle ITA polls of the fall…Bright and Jasie Dunk also earned a preseason doubles ranking of 13th...the duo competed in the ITA All-American Championships, beating the 17th-ranked Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss, 8-6, in the opening round of 32, before falling to Central Florida's seventh-ranked and fifth-seeded Ksenia Kuznetsova and Valeriya Zeleva, 8-3, in the round of 16…Bright and Giavara advanced to the doubles semifinals in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, beating three teams ranked in the final fall poll in Pennsylvania’s 16th-ranked Iuliia Bryzgalova/Marija Curnic, 6-4, 6-1, in the round of 32; Northern Arizona’s 25th-ranked Mimi Bland/Adrianna Sosnowska, 6-3, 6-3, in the round of 16; and Wake Forest’s 10th-ranked MC Meredith/Eliza Omirou, 6-4, 6-0, in the quarterfinals…the two Bears eventually fell to N.C. State’s top-ranked Alana Smith and Anna Rogers in the semis, 6-2, 5-7, 10-5…Bright and Giavara also competed in doubles in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, likewise winning thrice and advancing to the final four…they fell to Stanford’s 33rd-ranked Emily Arbuthnott/Angelica Blake, 6-2, 6-1, in the regional semis…Bright won four times (including a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 result over Washington’s Natsuho Arakawa in the round of 16) to reach the singles quarterfinals at regionals, with 15th-ranked Mariia Kozyreva of Saint Mary’s ending her run, 6-1, 6-3, in the quarters…Bright also competed in singles at fall nationals, went 2-1 in singles in the inaugural Women’s Collegiate Classic and reached the top-flight singles quarterfinals in the season-opening Cal Fall Invitational…Bright partnered with Erin Richardson in doubles in the Cal Fall Invite, with the duo falling in the top-flight final to teammates Julia Rosenqvist and Jasie Dunk.
Spring 2019: Completed her sophomore season with records of 27-10 in singles and 20-11 in doubles…in the May 1 Oracle ITA polls, Bright was ranked 79th in singles and the duo of Bright and Jasie Dunk was ranked 54th in doubles…earned a spot on the All-Pac-12 Second Team and collected Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention…ended the year on a seven-match winning streak in singles…that included Bright beating Lalita Devarakonda, 6-3, 7-5, to clinch Cal’s NCAA Championship round of 64 win over Long Beach State, 4-2; a 6-1, 6-1 win over USC’s Rianna Valdes in the Pac-12 Championship quarterfinals; and, in the regular season, a 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(2), upset of Stanford’s 36th-ranked Emily Arbuthnott...Bright also defeated Vanderbilt’s 37th-ranked Amanda Meyer, 6-4, 6-3, during the spring…Bright and Dunk bested Pepperdine’s 86th-ranked Ashley Lahey and Daria Kuczer, 6-1, in the NCAA round of 32 and in the regular season upset UCLA’s 14th-ranked Elysia Bolton and Jada Hart, 6-2.
Fall 2018: Finished the fall with a 9-4 singles record and 9-3 doubles record…defeated Texas Tech’s 37th-ranked Felicity Maltby, 6-4, 6-4, to qualify for the singles main draw in the Riviera ITA Women’s All-American Championships…Bright only lost five games in reaching the singles round of 16 in the ITA Northwest Regional Championships…she reached the top-flight semifinals of the Cal Fall Invitational before losing to teammate Olivia Hauger…Bright was ranked 29th in the September Oracle ITA singles poll and ended the fall ranked 57th…the sophomore teamed with Jasie Dunk for the first time to form a strong doubles team…in their first tournament together in October, the duo reached the final of the regional championships…in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in November, the two reached the doubles quarterfinals, which included wins over South Carolina’s Megan Davies and Rachel Rohrabacher (ranked 23rd in November), 6-3, 6-1, in the round of 32 and over Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze (ranked 21st in November), 7-5, 6-3, in the round of 16…Bright and Dunk ended the fall with a national ranking of 17th.
Spring 2018: The All-Pac-12 Second-Team selection ended the season ranked 46th in singles after compiling a 35-10 record…her 35 singles wins led the Bears for 2017-18…competed in the NCAA Singles Championship, falling to Denver’s 62nd-ranked Julia O’Loughlin, 7-6(1), 6-2, in the round of 64…Bright defeated eight opponents who were ranked in the Oracle ITA’s final poll, including Syracuse's eighth-ranked Gabriela Knutson, UCLA's 27th-ranked Jada Hart, North Carolina's 86th-ranked Jessie Aney (who was ranked 18th at the time of the match) and Wesleyan's top-ranked (in Division III) Eudice Chong, who won the Division III singles championship…was 13-5 in singles during the dual-match season, 5-1 at court-two singles and 7-1 against Pac-12 singles opponents…Bright was also 20-10 in doubles and partnered with Vivian Glozman to earn a No. 84 final doubles ranking…the freshmen posted a 12-5 doubles record that included a 7-5 upset of Stanford’s Caroline Lampl and Kimberley Yee (with the Cardinal pair then ranked 56th) on April 20.
Fall 2017: Had a strong start to her college career…compiled records of 16-4 in singles and – pairing with Vivian Glozman – 7-2 in doubles…earned a team-best No. 27 national ranking in singles in the Nov. 15 Oracle ITA poll...ended her fall in the consolation final of the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, falling to Florida’s eighth-ranked Anna Danilina, 5-7,7-6(3), 7-5…Bright beat four nationally ranked opponents to reach the consolation final in North Carolina’s No. 18 Jessie Aney, 6-2, 6-1, in the round of 32, Wesleyan’s top-ranked (Division III) Eudice Chong, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, in the round of 16, Baylor’s 98th-ranked Theresa Van Zyl, 6-2, 6-4, in the quarterfinals and Syracuse’s 17th-ranked Gabriela Knutson, 6-2, 6-1, in the semifinals…Bright also won three times to reach the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, captured the top-flight singles crown at the Saint Mary’s Fall Invitational (beating the Gaels’ Mariia Kozyreva, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4) and reached the top-flight singles semifinals of the Cal Fall Invitational…first-year Bears Bright and Glozman won the top-flight doubles title at the Saint Mary’s Fall Invitational, beating UC Santa Babara’s Elizaveta Volodko and Lise Sentenac in the final, 8-4, and fell in the top-flight final at the Cal Fall Invitational to 11th-ranked teammates Karla Popovic and Olivia Hauger, 8-5.
Personal/Previous: Business administration and data science double major...Bright was the No. 2 recruit in the nation prior to joining Cal according to tennisrecruiting.net, which also gave her the top RPI among the class of 2017 recruits… tennisrecruiting.net had previously ranked her as high as No. 1 nationally…played at West Boca Raton High School for former pro Pam Casale-Telford…posted a 44-1 high school record…also ran cross country in 2016…has won eight Level 2 national events, earning four gold balls and two bronze ball…the five-time high school state champion and high school All-American (2015-17) claimed the 2015 title of Florida's "Miss Tennis" for her many high school tennis accomplishments…has achieved success at every level, including winning the prestigious Eddie Herr doubles title and the Little Mo National Championship…born Oct. 8, 1999…parents are Liping and Kris…father, Kris, played tennis at Tennessee Tech…siblings are Cindy and Emma.
