Wallace Keeps Hold on Week One Honors
BERKELEY – Senior guard Tyrone Wallace has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for his 20-point, six-rebound, nine-assist performance against Rice in Cal's season-opener this past Friday.
This marks Wallace's fourth honor overall and the third straight year he has been recognized in week one. Last year, he posted 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Alcorn State, while he had 20 points and seven assists in an opening victory over Coppin State in 2013-14. Wallace also picked up the award in week four of the 2014-15 season.
Against Rice, Wallace connected on 9-of-12 shots from the floor and set a career high in assists. He also had just one turnover in 30 minutes during Cal's 97-65 win.
Wallace and the Bears take to the court again tonight when they host UC Santa Barbara in Haas Pavilion. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
