Women's Soccer Holds Off Scrappy Ducks, 1-0

Oct. 10, 1999

EUGENE, Ore. - Senior Kim Brown scored on a crossing pass from junior Natalie Stuhlmueller in the sixth minute, and California made the score stand up as the Bears beat Oregon 1-0 Sunday at Pape Field.

Maite Zabala earned her second straight shutout in net, notching six saves for the Bears (9-3-1, 2-0-0 Pac-10).

Despite the early score, Cal couldn't get on the board and was actually outshot 17-9 by an Oregon team that entered the game with a 4-7-0 (0-1-0 Pac-10) record. The Ducks held Cal's leading scorer, freshman Laura Schott, without a shot.

Cal will hit the road again next week for games at Arizona State (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Arizona (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
