TEMPE, Ariz. - In front of an ASU record crowd of 642, the Arizona State
women's soccer team defeated 20th-ranked California, 2-0, in a physical,
foul plagued match at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium, Friday night.
The Sun Devils' (8-4, 2-2 Pac-10) two goals were recorded by All-American
Stacey Tullock. Her first came in the 37th minute when, from five yards
out, she punched in a Kerrie Kulak cross from the right side. Tullock's
second goal, and Pac-10 leading 12th of the season, came in the 40th minute
when she bent a 10-yard direct free kick around six defenders, including
the goalkeeper, and found the top-left corner of the goal. Tullock has five
multi-goal games this season.
ASU's goaltender Erin Reinke posted her third complete shutout of the
season notching seven saves. With the shutout her goals-against average
dropped to 1.25.
California freshman and team-leading scorer Laura Schott received her fifth
yellow card of the season in the 82nd minute on a delay of game penalty.
