TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Regina Holan scored her first hat trick as a Golden Bear as Cal blanked Arizona 3-0 at Murphey Stadium today.
Holan opened the scoring in the 35th minute when she converted a penalty kick for her second goal of the season. The Los Altos product then added a goal in the 61st minute on a bicycle kick off a pass from Ashley Mueller. She finished the hat trick in the 77th minute, converting a pass from Natalie Stuhlmueller off a free kick.
The hat trick was Cal's second of the season, following Brittany Kirk's 4-goal outburst against San Francisco on Aug. 29.
Maite Zabala had four saves to post her fifth shutout of the season for Cal (10-4-1, 3-1 Pac-10) which assured itself of its fourth straight winning season. Arizona (6-8-0, 0-5-0) managed 12 shots on goal to Cal's 18.
Cal returns home to Edwards Stadium for a pair of tough games against nationally ranked USC (Friday, 3 p.m.) and UCLA (Sunday, 1 p.m.).
