Cal Volleyball Falls To No. 16 USC

BERKELEY, CA - The University of California women's volleyball team (10-12, 5-8 in the Pac-10) lost to No. 16 ranked USC, 3-0 (15-10, 15-3, 15-12), Friday evening at Haas Pavilion on the Cal campus. The Trojans improve to 16-5 overall and 11-3 in the Pac-10.

The Bears were led by senior middle blocker Kellie Alva with eight kills. Junior Alicia Perry, who had suffered an injured right ankle Oct. 28 versus Oregon and didn't play against Oregon State Oct. 29, had a team-high 14 digs. USC was led by sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Pahl's 12 kills.

In the first game the Bears made an impressive comeback after being down, 10-1, but USC finally broke away for the 15-10 win. The second game wasn't close for Cal, losing, 15-3. The Bears actually had a lead in the third game, 12-8, but couldn't hold off the talented USC squad, losing 15-12.

Cal next hosts No. 7 ranked UCLA on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
