Bears Improve to 3-0 in Field Hockey

The Cal field hockey team stayed perfect on the young season with a 12-0 victory over Davis & Elkins Monday. The Bears are now 3-0 this year, having outscored their opponents by a 22-1 margin.

Against Davis & Elkins, Cal tallied six goals in each half, led by three first-half goals by Lieke Zoete. Kelli Mirassou contributed two goals for the Bears, while Amber Stockstill, Catlin Braucht, Megan Sainsbury, Annika Kuefer, Sara Baron, Amber Olsen and Sarah Hunt added one goal apiece. Sainsbury, after scoring five times against St. Louis Sunday, now had seven goals on the year, one more than the six she had all of last season.

The victory over Davis & Elkins also gives Cal a 3-0 NorPac conference record. On their road trip to Missouri, the Bears also beat St. Louis (8-1) and SW Missouri State. Pacific and Stanford are the other schools that make up the NorPac.

Cal returns to action this Friday when the Bears play Hofstra at Stanford at 1 p.m.
