Diane Ninemire wins 500th Game at Cal

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 12th ranked Cal softball team beat Florida Atlantic, 4-3, and Florida A&M, 6-0, Saturday at the Seminole Classic Saturday to give head coach Diane Ninemire her 500th career victory.

Ninemire, in her 13th season at Cal, is now 500-274 and has the Bears at a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Against Florida Atlantic, the Owls got out to an early start off an RBI single from Jackie Catanese in the first inning. The Bears answered in the second inning with a two run shot over the left field wall from freshman catcher Courtney Scott. Third baseman Candice Harper followed in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to give Cal a 3-1 lead. FAU's Ninya Ybarra tied up the game in the sixth inning with a two-run single, but Cal fresman Mikella Pedritti drove in Scott in the bottom of the seventh to give Cal the 4-3 win.

In the second game of the night, Cal started the scoring in the third inning with on RBI singles from second baseman Lisa Iancin and left fielder Pauline Duenas to give Cal the 2-0 lead. Cal added to the lead in the fourth and sixth innings on a two-run double by Jennifer Deering and another RBI single by Iancin.
