SUNNYVALE - Sophomore Jocelyn Forest tossed a four-hitter and second baseman Lisa Iancin hit her fifth home run of the season to lead sixth-ranked Cal to a 3-2 victory over Nebraska late Friday night.

With the win, the Bears (25-1) completed pool play at the National Invitational Softball Tournament with a perfect 3-0 record. Cal, the two-time defending NIST champion, will compete in the championship bracket Saturday and Sunday.

Against Nebraska (3-2), the Bears scored twice in the top of the first inning. Cal loaded the bases with none out, and the Bears pushed across their first run when Pauline Duenas came home on a wild pitch. One out later, third baseman Candace Harper delivered an RBI single for a 2-0 lead.

In the third inning, Iancin hit a solo shot to left field to make it 3-0 Cal.

Nebraska rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After a walk, Jennifer Lizama doubled to put runners on second and third. Kim Ogee followed with a two run single.

But that was as close as the Huskers would get as Forest (12-1) shut Nebraska down the rest of the way.
