Men's Golf Shoots For Top Five

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- - After 36 holes in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at La Purisima Golf Course in Santa Barbara, the Cal men's golf team has a legitimate shot at earning its first top-five finish of the spring season with 18 holes to play. The Bears are currently in fifth place with a team score of 607, just five shots behind Pacific.

Senior co-captain Robert Hamilton leads the Bears with solid rounds of 71 and 73, good enough for a second-place tie individually.

San Diego State leads the tournament with a team score of 596, five shots better than Brigham Young and the University of San Diego. San Diego's Patrick Hawkins leads individually with rounds of 70 and 73, placing him one shot ahead of Cal's Hamilton with 18 holes left.
