Women's Lacrosse Posts A 9-6 Win Over Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Although the Limestone College Women's Lacrosse team outshot the visiting University of California 36-19, the Bears held on for a 9-6 win today. Led by freshman goalie Eden Coelho who recorded 24 saves, Cal moves to 6-5 on the season while Limestone falls to 4-2.

The Bears opened the scoring at 27:41 when Sarah Weatley scored the first of her four goals. The Saints responed as Jody Kennedy (Ajax, ONT) scored one minute later to lock it at one. Cal made two runs, one in the first and one in the second where pushed out to a 9-3 lead, but the Saints would rally in the final 16 minutes of play scoring the final three goals. In the end, Coelho made the difference as she stopped four shots in the final minute of play. Dawn Smith (Baldwinsville, NY) led the scoring for Limestone with two goals and two assists.
