Cal Field Hockey Wins Third Straight Game

Stockton, Calif. - California prevailed once again in a tight contest as the Bears defeated Pacific, 1-0, Saturday, Sept. 30 at Brookside Field. The Bears had their second consecutive shut out win as Sarah Hoehn made two saves to preserve the goose egg. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in the NorPac Conference. Cal improves to 6-3 and 3-0 in the NorPac Conference.

Saturday's non-conference match between Pacific and Cal was the fifth time in the last six match-ups between the two schools that the game was decided by one goal. The season opener for both teams saw a 4-3 overtime victory for the Bears.

The Tigers held the Bears scoreless for the first half and posted six shots on goal to the Bears' seven. But just over 10 minutes into the second half, Cal junior midfielder Sara Hunt put away a pass from junior midfielder Bonnie Chang.

The Bears took the lead, 1-0 with 24:11 remaining in the game and held on as they won their third straight game.

Cal faces Cornell Monday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. in Berkeley.
