Los Angeles, CA -
Cal (9-3) continued its southern swing today, rebounding from yesterday's close loss to UCLA to defeat the Lions of Loyola Marymount (8-12) by an 11-5 count.
The Bears jumped out to an early 4-2 lead to end the first quarter, as Spencer Dornin and Chris Lathrop each scored twice for the Golden Bears. Kevin Witt tried to bring the Lions back into the match as he scored two goals to answer back.
The Lions were shutout of the second quarter as Cal's 3-0 surge became too much of a deficit to overcome. Andrew Stoddard, Attila Banhidy and Joe Kaiser each contributed to Cal's score with their goals for the Golden Bears 7-2 halftime lead.
In the third quarter the Lions made another effort to get control of the game as Kyle Witt and Steve Lipinski each scored their only goals of the game. Cal was held to a single goal as Will Quist made his only shot of the match to end the third quarter 8-4.
Cal pulled away in the final period as Greg Panawek scored a pair of goals and Sean Vienna scored his only goal on the afternoon. Ke. Witt made his final goal of the afternoon for the Lions.
Cal heads to UC Irvine on Friday, Oct. 26 to play the Anteaters.
