Women's Lacrosse Downs St. Mary's, 13-9

BERKELEY, Calif. - California downed St. Mary's 13-9 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. The victory extended the Bears winning streak to five games and improved their record to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the Western Women's Lacrosse League. The Gaels dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the WWLL.

Four different Bears scored at least two goals with freshman attacker Colleen O'Mara leading the way with four.

St. Mary's scored the first goal of the contest, but Cal held an 8-6 advantage at the half. The Gaels closed to within 11-9 with 10:31 remaining in the game, but the Bears answered with insurance goals from freshman midfielder Julianne Wu and junior attacker Laura Kado to secure the league win.

California hits the road for a spring break east coast swing that includes five road games in Pennsylvania. The first contest will be at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia on Sunday, March 25, at 1:00 p.m.
