Bears Fall To Ohio, 14-6

VILLANOVA, Penn. -
Ohio snapped a two-game losing streak with a commanding 14-6 victory over California on Friday afternoon. The neutral site game was played at Villanova University. Senior midfielder Sarah Wheatley and junior attacker Halsey Monger each scored twice for the Bears.
The Bobcats struck first with a goal at the 28:44 mark, but California (7-4 overall, 1-2 in the WWLL) answered moments later with two quick goals to capture its only lead of the contest, 2-1. Ohio's leading scorer, Alyssa Trocher, tallied the next two goals to put the Bobcats up for good. California trailed 7-5 at halftime.
Using momentum gained before the end of the first half, Ohio (2-6 overall) continued to pressure California in the second half, outscoring the Bears 7-1. The Bobcat defense held California scoreless until Monger scored her second goal of the day with 1:31 remaining on the clock.
