The 20th-ranked California field hockey team remains undefeated in conference play after a 4-1 victory past University of the Pacific Saturday afternoon at Maxwell Family Field. Honoring the six graduating seniors on their final home match of the year, the Golden Bears improve to 10-6 (5-0 NorPac) as the Tigers fall to 3-12 (2-4 NorPac).
Pacific jumped out to an early lead off of an unassisted goal in the 16th minute by Alexandra Fiorina, but it was all the Tigers were able to muster up for the entire game.
Cal responded just three minutes later, scoring off its only penalty corner in the first half, as junior Nora Feddersen fired in her ninth goal of the year, assisted by seniors Danya Sawyer and Pooja Mehta.
The score was tied going into the second stanza, but not for long as junior Erin Booth scored her first goal of the year, assisted by Feddersen in the 40th minute, to put the Bears up, 2-1.
Cal increased its lead, as Mehta connected with a pass from freshman Jenna Long in the 54th minute. The Bears continued to push, scoring their final goal of the game in the 69th minute by freshman Alexandra Harkins, her second goal of the year.
Cal outshot Pacific, 13 to nine. Bear keeper Kelly Knapp collected one save in the win as Tiger goalkeeper Gina Sadler notched two saves in the effort.
California returns to action Saturday, Nov. 2 at Stanford at 1 p.m for its final scheduled game of the year.
