Nov. 1, 2002
Box Score
LOS ANGELES, CA -
The University of California women's volleyball team (15-7, 5-7) fell to No. 1 USC (19-0, 12-0), 3-0 (30-15, 30-13, 30-22) Friday night at the Lyon Center in Los Angeles. The Bears were playing without their best player Mia Jerkov, who sat out the match nursing a sprained left ankle.
Earlier this season with Jerkov, Cal took the Trojans to five games before falling 15-13 in game five, Oct. 5 at Haas Pavilion.
The Bears were led by senior Leah Young's nine kills and freshman Jenna Brown notched a team-high 14 digs. USC was paced by Keao Burdine's 13 kills and 14 digs. April Ross added 12 kills and had three service aces. Ross' serving played a key role in the Trojans breaking away from the Bears in each of the first two games.
Cal will next face No. 13 ranked UCLA, Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion.
