Bears Sweep Road Trip, Defeat Colorado College 11-8

DENVER, CO - The California women's lacrosse team (4-1, 3-1 in MPLL) played two games in two days and added another defeat to their list of victories, coming out on top Sunday, defeating Colorado College (1-2) 11-8 at Regis University in Denver.

The Bears rode another strong performance from sophomore attacker Emily Edwards, who netted four goals and two assists against the Colorado College Tigers. Edwards' six-point performance marks a string of five straight games scoring a goal, with seven goals on the two-game road trip and 14 goals overall. Another Bears' sophomore, midfielder Julianne Wu scored her first hat trick of the season to give her six goals for the year.

The score was notched 4-4 at halftime, but some key Cal goals and some nice saves from goalkeeper Eden Coelho in the second stanza, and the Bears were able to outscore the Tigers 7-4 in the second half to win it, 11-8. Cal made Tiger goalkeeper Cindy Yi work between the pipes today, putting up a season high 34 shots on goal. On the other end of the field, Coelho faced 28 shots while saving a season high 16 of them.

The Bears will return to action on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Moraga to face Saint Mary's College.
