MORAGA, Calif. - Freshman Molly Brady scored four goals to lead the Golden Bears (5-1, 4-1 in MPLL) to a 10-8 decision over the Saint Mary's Gaels (0-4, 0-4 in MPLL), Saturday afternoon in Moraga. SMC's Megan Bryan paced the Gaels with five scores of her own.

California got on the scoreboard first when Colleen O'Mara scored an unassisted goal just 1:22 into the game. Saint Mary's answered with goals by Carrie Moore and Bryan to take a 2-1 lead at the 7:44 mark. The game remained scoreless for the next 10 minutes, before goals by Cal's Julianne Wu and Brady gave the Bears a 3-2 lead at the 24:35 mark. Saint Mary's answered just a minute later when Ally Back knotted the score at 3-3. Cal extended its lead to 5-3, by the intermission, on sophomore Emily Edwards' 15th goal of the season and Brady's second goal of the game.

Cal opened the second half with two quick strikes to open a commanding 7-3 lead just three minutes into the second half. Collette Spencer broke the SMC scoring drought at the 36:50 mark to cut the lead to 7-4. Two more scores from Bryan brought the Gaels with one goal (7-6) with 20 minutes left to play. Laura Kado scored at the 41:14 mark and O'Mara scored her second goal of the game at the 42:35 mark to open the Cal lead to 9-6. Brady's fourth and final goal of the game gave the Bears a four goal advantage with 13 minutes to play.

Collette Spencer connected with Bryan for two more scores, cutting the lead to 10-8 with eight minutes remaining. That was as close as Saint Mary's would get, as Eden Coelho made a number of saves down the stretch to earn the win in goal. Coelho finished the game with 15 saves while SMC goalie Megan Ceccotti had 12 saves in a losing effort.

Cal returns to action Wednesday, March 20 at 3:30 p.m. when they host Columbia at Memorial Stdium in a non-conference matchup.
