CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
Sophomore attacker Emily Edwards scored one of two Cal goals, extending her season and career high to 36, but the Golden Bears (10-5, 5-2) couldn't muster enough offense in dropping an 11-2 decision to Harvard (6-6), Sunday afternoon in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Senior attacker Halsey Monger netted the Bears' other lone goal.
Harvard took a 6-1 lead at halftime with six different players netting goals, including three straight free position tallies from Casey Owens, Elaine Belitsos and Heather Hussey to close the half. Monger's first half goal came at the 12:19 mark on and assist from Edwards.
The Crimson again held the Golden Bears to a single goal in the second half while scoring five of its own to claim its second consecutive victory in as many days. The Bears complete the 2002 season going 4-3 in East Coast action.
Harvard goalkeeper Laura Mancini made 12 saves in picking up her second win of the weekend. Cal keeper Eden Coelho played 57:30, making 16 saves before making way for freshman netminder Kathryn Calligaro for the final two and a half minutes.
The Bears conclude the 2002 campaign with a home match vs. Stanford on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Stadium.
