Nov. 15, 2003
Box Score
LOS ANGELES, CA -
The No. 9 ranked Cal volleyball team (19-6, 10-6) fell to No. 1 ranked USC (26-0, 17-0), 3-0 (30-25, 30-20, 30-22) Saturday evening at the Lyon Center on the USC campus. The Bears were led by sophomore Jenna Brown's 12 kills and .400 hitting percentage. Mia Jerkov added nine kills and 10 digs, while sophomore Alicia Powers had a team-high six block assists.
The top ranked, undefeated and defending NCAA champion Trojans, who are undefeated at 26-0, had five players with double digit kills and out-hit Cal for the match, .394 to .180. The Bears are the only team to take USC to five game games this season, falling to the Trojans, 3-2, Oct. 18 at Haas Pavilion
"Even though we lost 3-0, the match was competitive throughout," said Cal coach Rich Feller. "We would play even with them, but then they would go on streaks and convert on their opportunities."
The Bears will try to break a three-match losing when they next host Oregon State, Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., and Oregon, Friday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Haas Pavilion. The OSU-Cal match will be shown on tape delay on Fox Sports Bay Area on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
