LAKE FOREST, IL - The No. 19 Cal men's golf team placed 13th Tuesday at the Windon Memorial Classic, played at the Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill. The Golden Bears, the defending 2004 national champions, shot the final two rounds with scores of 293 and 298 to conclude the tournament at 905. Cal was in 18th place after a first round score of 314 Monday. Host Northwestern ended up winning the Windon Memorial Classic with a score of 865 (294, 284, 287). Purdue's Peter Richardson was the tournaments' individual champion with a score of 212 (70, 68, 74)

Last season, Cal placed second at the Windon Memorial, shooting an 868 (+4) for the three rounds, trailing only Minnesota (859, -5).

Senior Jeff Hood led the Bears with a three round score of 220, recovering from a first round 79 to shot 70 and 71 Tuesday to place tied for 19th. True freshman Michael Jensen was tied for 32nd with a 220 (79, 70, 74), Brandon Beck was tied for 64th with a 230 (75, 77, 78), Kyle Dowden was tied for 79th with a 235 (81, 79, 75) and Eric West was 87th with a 239 (82, 76, 81).

Cal will next host the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Oct. 11-12 at the Meadow Golf Course in Fairfax, Calif. Teams competing in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational include Cal, Washington, Illinois, Stanford, Oregon State, Purdue, Northwestern, San Jose State, San Francisco, Oregon, Cal Poly, Pacific, Kansas State, Long Beach State and Nevada.
