Bears Fall to William & Mary, 12-7

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The No. 16 Cal women's lacrosse team was handed its third loss of the season by the Tribe of William & Mary, 12-7. The Golden Bears' record moves to 2-3 on the year as they finish their two-game road trip on Sunday at the University of Richmond.

The Tribe scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back. The Bears' biggest deficit came with 9:36 remaining in the match, when the Tribe scored their 11 goal of the game, making the score 11-4. The Bears battled back in the closing nine minutes to make the final score more respectable.

The Bears had five different players account for their seven goals, with Colleen O'Mara picking up her fifth and sixth goals of the season. Leanne Zilioli also scored twice for the Bears.

William & Mary was led by Morgan Watkins and Lauren Work, who combined for seven of the Tribe's 12 scores. The Tribe was also able to shut down Cal's leading goal scorer, Molly Brady, who only mustered two shots all game.

Cal freshman Hilary Lynch, despite the loss, continued her vast development, saving 13 shots.

After Sunday's game against Richmond, the Bears return home to face George Washington before heading back on the road for five consecutive away games.
