No. 7 Cal Bounces Back With Win at No. 17 ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 7 Cal women's swimming and diving team rebounded with a win over host No. 17 ASU, 176-118. The Golden Bears recorded nine first-place finishes in Saturday's win, led by freshman Emily Silver and junior Ashley Chandler, who posted two individual wins each.
The Bears (7-1, 3-1 Pac-10) suffered their first loss of the season, 144-99, at No. 4 Arizona Friday.
Silver won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races in NCAA B qualifying times of 23.29 and 50.28 seconds respectively. Chandler, a native of Chandler, Ariz., took first in the 1,000 freestyle (10:00.09) and the 500 freestyle (4:55.29).
Other winners for Cal were senior Lauren Medina in the 200 freestyle in an NCAA B qualifying time of 1:48.70, freshman Rachel Ridgeway in the 200 butterfly in 2:02.68, junior Helen Silver in the 200 backstroke in an NCAA B qualifying time of 2:00.41, and sophomore diver Lila Korpell in the 1-meter event with 258.23 points.
Medina, Emily Silver, sophomore Lauren Andrews and senior Keiko Amano made up Cal's winning 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:34.02).
The Golden Bears host USC at 1 p.m. Friday at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
