DAVIDSON, N.C. - The California field hockey team (6-6, 3-1 NorPac) held Radford (1-6, 0-2 NorPac) scoreless to come away with a 3-0 victory, Saturday afternoon in Davidson, N.C.
Junior forward Valentina Godfrid scored all three of the Golden Bears' goals. Two of Godfrid's goals were scored in the first 30 minutes of action; the goals were unassisted. She later connected again in the final 20 seconds of the first period by scoring off a penalty corner; senior forward Teela Crostwaite and senior backfielder Jenna Long are credited with the assist.
Cal out shot Radford 18-to-8; with the Bears attempting 12 shots in the first period alone. Radford's goalkeeper Amy Dietz collected five saves on the 12 shot attempts by Cal in the first. For Cal defensively, goalkeeper Veronica Sykes collected two saves in the second period.
The Bears continue their conference road trip on Sunday when they face Appalachian State, in Davidson N.C. Game time is slated 11:00 a.m. (EST).
