No. 14 Field Hockey Falls to No. 10 Connecticut, 5-1

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 10 Connecticut Huskies were too much for the No. 14 California Golden Bears on Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Ky. The Bears lost the game 5-1, after letting the Huskies rattle off four unanswered goals.
UConn scored quickly, Lauren Aird gave the Huskies a 1-0 advantage 1:12 into the game. Twenty-three minutes later senior forward Valentina Godfrid evened the game, with her goal off a penalty corner. Sophomores midfielder Rachel Moffitt and forward Andrea Lo were credited with the assists. Right before halftime, the UConn's Lizzy Peijs connected on a penalty stroke, giving the Huskies the 2-1 lead at the break.
UConn rattled off three unanswered goals in the second half, including a goal by Kristen Galuski 11 seconds into the second half. A minute later Neagan Hoffman hit a shot and ten minutes following Hoffman's goal Galuski connected on her second goal of the game.
Defensively for Cal, sophomore goalkeeper Veronica Sykes totaled a career-high 13 saves during the game. Sophomore backfielder Carolina Bistue also collected her second defensive save of the season.
The Bears will wrap up their Midwest trip against No. 13 Louisville on Monday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. (CST).
