No. 12 Field Hockey Upends Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. - The 12th-ranked California field hockey team continued their undefeated rank in the NorPac Conference (4-0) on Thursday, as they defeated Longwood, 5-2, in Farmville, Va.
Sophomore forward Andrea Lo scored first for the Golden Bears one minute into the contest. The goal was unassisted. Longwood's Kelsey Turner scored off a penalty corner 12 minutes following Cal's first score.
At half time the game was tied, but six minutes into the second half sophomore midfielder Gwen Belomy scored a goal, putting the Bears in front. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Glosz scored next for Cal.
Senior forward Valentina Godfrid scored her 26th goal of the season a minute after Glosz's goal. Godfrid connected on her second goal of the game off a penalty shot.
Defensively for the Bears, sophomore goalkeeper Veronica Sykes collected four saves in 66 minutes, before being replaced by senior backfielder Lisa Hauck in the net. Hauck collected one save, but allowed one goal.
The Bears will face No. 4 Duke on Saturday, Oct. 21, in Durham, N.C. The match will begin at 1 p.m. (ET).
