BERKELEY - It took a little extra time, but the 12th-ranked California field hockey team defeated Pacific in its last regular-season game to remain undefeated in NorPac Conference play this season. The Golden Bears beat the Tigers, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Berkley. This is the first time since 2003 Cal has gone undefeated in conference play.

Pacific got off to an early start in the game, as Vianney Campos scored her 30th goal of the season five minutes into the contest.

The Bears answered in the final three minutes of the first half, with a goal from Christina McGrath off a penalty corner. Kellie York and Rachel Moffitt were credited with assists.

The Tigers' Jennifer Chaney scored early in the second half, giving Pacific a 2-1 advantage for the majority of the second half.

The game was forced into overtime by Jennifer Crane's goal with three minutes left in the game. It was Crane's eighth goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Glosz assisted Crane on the play.

On senior day, forward Valentina Godfrid continued to add to her record-setting career at Cal. Godfrid scored the Bears' winning goal six minutes into the first overtime period.

Defensively for the Bears, sophomore goalkeeper Veronica Sykes collected six saves and both sophomore backfielder Christina McGrath and senior backfielder Lisa Hauck tallied defensive saves.

The Bears will travel to Davidson, N.C. to defend their title in the NorPac Conference Championship. The event will be held on the Davidson campus on Nov. 2-4. The winner of the conference championship advances to an NCAA play-in game.
