No. 14 Field Hockey Beats Davidson, Godfrid Scores Five Goals

BERKELEY - It was all Valentina Godfrid on Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, as Godfrid scored five goals helping the Golden Bears rout Davidson, 6-1, in a NorPac Conference game at Maxwell Family Field.
Twelve minutes into the contest, the senior forward scored the first goal off a penalty corner. Godfrid turned around and scored another goal 10 minutes later off a pass from senior backfielder Lisa Hauck. Godfrid's third goal came with three minutes left in the first half. She hit a shot from the left side of the goal, off a pass from sophomore midfielder Ashley Glosz, giving Godfrid her 19th goal of the season.
In the second half, Godfrid attempted a penalty shot, which she scored, but it was ruled no good by the umpire. Three minutes following Godfrid's penalty shot, Glosz scored her ninth goal of the season.
In the 16th minute of the half, Godfrid scored her 20th goal of the season of the season, and with four minutes left in the game, Godfrid scored the Bears' sixth goal of the game. The goal was her 77th goal of her career.
The Bears out shot the Wildcats, 31 to eight.
Davidson's lone goal was scored by Kayli Maxwell in the second half.
The Bears return to the field on Friday, Oct. 13, against Appalachian State in a conference game. The contest will be played on Maxwell Family Field and will begin at 3:30 p.m. (PST).
