No. 12 Field Hockey's Season Ends with 3-1 Loss to No. 5 Ohio State

DURHAM, N.C. - The 12th-ranked California field hockey team's season ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to No. 5 Ohio State in the NCAA Regional in Durham, N.C.
Ohio State started off early with a goal by Yesenia Luces a minute into the contest. Twenty-four minutes later, the Buckeyes' Jamie Gofgosky scored off a pass from Michaela O'Malley.
Ohio State took the 2-0 lead into half. However, the Buckeyes did not score again until the 59th minute, when Luces connected on her second goal of the day.
Cal's lone score came in the last six minutes of the game, when sophomore forward Andrea Lo connected off a pass from senior forward Valentina Godfrid.
"I thought we competed really well," head coach Shellie Onstead said after the loss. "We had our chances to stay in the game, but they did a better job of finishing."
The Bears end the season 17-5 and undefeated in conference play (6-0). The loss also ends the Cal career of Godfrid, who finishes as the Cal all-time point holder (220) and goal leader (93).
