Behind two, two-run home runs from senior Haley Woods and a no-hitter by freshman Lauren Frankiewicz, No. 7/8 Cal opened play at the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament with a 9-0 win over Mississippi Valley State, Thursday.

The Bears (11-2) scored all nine of their runs in the first two innings, putting up three in the first and six in the second. Woods finished the game 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Junior Alex Sutton also had a two-run homer in the game in the second inning.

Frankiewicz (4-0) picked up the win, holding the opposition hitless and scoreless. She struck out seven over five innings.

Cal's game against Florida International was cancelled due to rain on Thursday. The Bears continue tournament play will face Mercer, Friday, at 2 p.m.
