GAME NOTES
*Haley Woods led the Bears in the Iowa City Regional, finishing 4-for-7 (.571) with four RBI and three runs, including two home runs.
*Sophomore Julie Meyer went 3-for-7 (.429), including a home run, and senior Lindsay James was 3-for-8 (.375) with two runs.
*Senior Kristina Thorson finished the weekend with a 0.33 ERA over 21 innings. She racked up 39 strikeouts through the three games, while giving up eight hits and one earned run.
*In Thorson's four complete games against Nebraska, she is 4-0. In the 2004 Nebraska Regional, Thorson threw two, 2-0 shutouts against the Huskers. In the 2006 postseason, Thorson gave up two unearned runs Saturday in the Bears' 4-2 win and held the Huskers to one run on three hits in Cal's 6-1 win Sunday.
Thorson's first appearance against Nebraska (2003), she pitched 1.0 innings, striking out two of the three batters she faced. The Bears lost that game 6-1.
*Thorson is just one of three Cal pitchers to record 100 wins and 1,000 strikeouts in her career. After Sunday's game, Thorson has 101 and 1,048. Michele Granger (1989-93) had 119 and 1,640. Jocelyn Forest (1999-02) has 103 and 1,203.
*The win pushes Cal's NCAA Regional record to 52-28.
*The win improves Cal head coach Diane Ninemire's record in NCAA regional play to 49-23. She has taken the Bears to the regionals in all 19 seasons of her head coaching career.
