Vickers Homers in No. 7 Cal's 4-1 Win At No. 6 ASU

TEMPE, Ariz. - Sophomore Katie Vickers hit a two-run home run, and the No. 7 California softball team picked up a 4-1 win at No. 6 Arizona State, Saturday. Senior Kristina Thorson picked up her 29th win of the season - a new career high, and the Golden Bears (41-11 overall, 9-8 Pac-10) scored all four runs in the third inning.
Junior Alex Sutton drove in sophomore Erika Racklin, who was pinch-running for senior Lindsay James, for the Bears' first run of the game. Sutton scored when senior Emily Friedman reached base on an error.
Vickers homered later in the inning, sending senior Haley Woods home, who had reached base on an error.
Thorson pitched the final four innings of the game, giving up just one run on two hits and striking out seven. Freshman Lauren Frankiewicz started the game and threw the first three innings, holding the Sun Devils to one hit.
