Box Score
Berkeley -
Freshman Vernae Sevilla produced California's lone hit of the afternoon versus No. 7 Arizona State. However it was the difference maker as her two-out solo home run just made it over the left field wall in the fifth inning giving the Golden Bears a 1-0 upset victory over the Sun Devils on Saturday afternoon.
Cal's other freshman, Marissa Drewrey, had a stellar performance in the circle, tossing a complete game three-hit shutout against the Pac-10's third-best offense. Drewrey's first career shutout helped improved her record to 10-5 this season.
Arizona State's Katie Burkhart, who led the conference with a 0.98 ERA, suffered the loss, despite recording 14 strikeouts in the contest. The Sun Devils left eight runners on base.
Cal (29-27, 3-11 Pac-10) concludes its series with ASU (45-12, 9-5 Pac-10) tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in Levine-Fricke field.
