Cal Sweeps Victoria with 3-1 Exhibition Win

Junior midfielder Ashley Glosz scored two goals and set up a third in California's 3-1 exhibition victory over the University of Victoria on a warm Thursday afternoon at Maxwell Family Field. The Golden Bears had defeated the Vikings, 3-0, in an exhibition game on Monday, Aug. 27, also in Berkeley.
In today's match, Glosz got the Bears on the scoreboard in the sixth minute. The Bears proceeded to outshoot Victoria, 4-2, in the first period.
Victoria collected the first goal of the second half, as Vikings junior defender Katie Tittler scored at 40:48 to tie the match at 1-1.
Junior midfielder Carolina Bistue supplied a nice pass to Glosz in the 55th minute, when the latter put Cal ahead for good with her second goal of the game. Glosz assisted on junior forward Katie Knoche's 67th-minute strike to give Cal its 3-1 victory.
Cal senior goalkeeper Liz Braasch played the first half and made one save. Bears junior goalie Kelly Knoche got the nod in the second stanza and did not record a save.
Vikings freshman goalkeeper Kaitlyn Williams made six saves in 70 minutes.
Overall, Cal outshot Victoria, 10-5.
The Bears return to their regular-season schedule at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, when they host Missouri State.
