RICHMOND, Va. - Ashley Glosz and Gwen Belomy scored in No. 15 California's 2-0 win over Delaware on Friday afternoon at the University of Richmond's Crenshaw Field. The Golden Bears, who have won five straight games, improved their record to 11-2 after the non-conference win on the neutral field, while the Blue Hens fell to 3-11.

For the second straight game, Cal outshot its opponent by 10 or more - the Bears outshot Delaware, 19-9, after outshooting Old Dominion, 17-3, on Oct. 15. Delaware goalkeeper Nikki Rhoades kept her team close with seven saves.

Cal senior goalkeeper Kelly Knoche made five saves.

"I was real nervous about today because I didn't know much about this team," Cal head coach Shellie Onstead said. "They're a lot like Old Dominion - not ranked, but that doesn't mean they're not worthy. I had a coaching friend who said that on a good day Delaware was better than Old Dominion. We were prepared. We talked about it a lot, so the players wouldn't look ahead to playing No. 3 Wake Forest."

The Bears outshot the Blue Hens, 9-3, in the first half, connecting on its fourth shot of the period when Glosz, a senior midfielder/forward assisted by senior defender Carolina Bistue, notched her team-high 11th goal of the season at 20:19.

Cal took its 1-0 lead into halftime.

Belomy, a senior defender, scored her fourth goal of the season at 41:43 to make the score 2-0, with sophomore forward Natalie Nurnberg collecting an assist.

"That was nice," Onstead said. "Nat came down the right side, and Gwen came screaming into the circle, open. Natalie drove baseline and gave it back to Gwen, who scored."

Over the last 28:17 of the game, Delaware had three penalty corners and took all six of its second-half shots, forcing Knoche to make three saves en route to her third shutout of the season.

Cal resumes action when it takes on No. 3 Wake Forest at 9 a.m. PT on Sunday, Oct. 19, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
