The 22nd-ranked California softball team fell by a score of 4-1 to the Oregon Ducks in Pac-10 action on Sunday afternoon at Howe Field.
Despite the loss, Cal (40-21, 7-11 Pac-10) still took the season series from the Ducks. The Golden Bears return to action next week at Arizona and Arizona State to wrap up the regular season.
Oregon scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the 4-0 lead. Lovena Chaput provided the key hit in the inning with a two-run single down the right field line to put the Ducks up 4-0.
Cal scored its lone run in the sixth inning when Valerie Arioto doubled to right-center field to plate Taylor Kelly.
Brittany LaRosa (6-5) suffered the loss allowing all four runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work. Arioto pitched 3.2 innings, giving up two this with five strikeouts.
Oregon's Alicia Cook gave up two hits and walked one with four strikeouts in seven innings for the win.
