ANNAPOLIS, MD -
The No. 1-ranked California men's water polo team opened the 2008 season with an 18-6 victory over Bucknell at the Navy Open in Annapolis, Md. Eleven different players scored for the Golden Bears, including three goals apiece by senior Frank Reynolds, junior Thomas Pearson and sophomore Brian Dudley. Sophomore goalie Jacob McIntosh finished with seven save and two assists.
Cal will next play host Navy at 7 p.m. eastern time on Saturday. The Bears defeated the Midshipmen, 8-5, in last year's NCAA Tournament semifinal. More details of both the Bucknell and Navy matches to follow.
