LOS ANGELES - Fifth-ranked California dominated UCLA on Saturday, winning 13 of 16 events, to emerge with a 167-128 dual-meet victory at Spieker Aquatics Center. Senior Lauren Boyle, junior Hannah Wilson and freshman Caitlin Leverenz won two individual events each for the Golden Bears, who improved their record to 5-1 (3-1 Pac-10). UCLA fell to 5-3 (2-3 Pac-10).

The win today gave Cal a split on its Los Angeles road trip, including Friday's 153-147 setback at USC.

Leverenz won a third event against UCLA, as she swam the on the winning 200-yard medley relay to open the meet. Sophomore Colleen Fotsch, Leverenz, junior Amanda Sims and junior Erica Dagg combined to post an NCAA B consideration time of 1:42.69 and beat the second-place UCLA relay by 1.2 seconds.

Just as she did against USC, Boyle swam the 1000 and 500 frees against the Bruins; this time she won both races. In the second event of the day, Boyle swam a pool-record time of 9:57.53 to win the 1000. She later won the 500 in a pool-record and NCAA B consideration time of 4:50.13.

Wilson won the day's third event, the 200 free, in an NCAA B time of 1:49.01, with sophomore teammate Liv Jensen second in a time of 1:50.82. Wilson later led a 1-2-3 Cal sweep of the 100 free with a time of 50.32. Dagg was a close second in a time of 50.35 and Jensen was also close in third in a time of 50.65.

In the 400-individual medley, the meet's penultimate race, Leverenz clocked a pool-record, meet-record and NCAA B time of 4:13.03. Earlier, Leverenz claimed the 200 breaststroke in an NCAA B and meet-record time of 2:13.47.

In diving, Bears freshman Kelsey Heiken won the one-meter springboard with a score of 250.58. Cal sophomore Molly Hayes was third with a score of 246.90. On the three-meter springboard, Hayes recorded Cal's top finish, placing fourth with a score of 229.80.

Cal's other individual winners included Dagg in the 100 backstroke (56.37), sophomore Sara Isakovic in the 200 butterfly (1:58.90, NCAA B and pool-record time), Jensen in the 50 free (22.90, NCAA B, pool-record and meet-record time) and Sims in the 100 fly. The defending NCAA champion in the 100 fly, Sims clocked a time of 55.67 to win today.

The Bears closed out the meet by setting a pool record with its winning time in the 400-free relay. The Cal A squad of Isakovic, sophomore Ursula Dailey, junior Sara Sun and Dagg beat the runner-up UCLA A relay, 3:26.51-3:26.68.

Cal returns to action when it visits rival and fourth-ranked Stanford at 2 p.m. on Feb. 13 to close out the dual-meet season.

"Caitlin had a great weekend," Cal head coach Teri McKeever said. "Liv did a nice job in the sprint. Lauren won pretty convincingly in the 1000 and 500, and also swam both two days in a row. Dagg did a good job in the backstroke and in the 100.

"Overall, it was a good, solid weekend, especially following up from the Arizona meets. We're starting to get some rest, fine tuning and making final adjustments going into the Stanford meet, Pac-10s and NCAAs."
