NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - The California men's crew swept all three races it competed in at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival last weekend in Newport Beach, Calif. Cal's men's eight, four and freshmen eight were all victorious on the day. The Golden Bears defeated Stanford in two of the three races.

In the men's eight, Cal defeated second-place Stanford, 12:59.52-13:08.45. Cal's second varsity eight placed third at 13:23.77), while Cal's top freshmen boat finished fourth with a time of 13:30.14. The Bears' second freshmen boat also competed in the race, crossing the finish line at 14:05.84 (eighth place).

In the frosh eight, Cal finished first and second. The Bears' first freshmen boat won with a time of 13:34.50, and the second boat followed at 14:14.64.

Cal claimed first and third in the men's four. The A boat was victorious with a time of 15:09.40, topping second-place Stanford (15:17.00). The B boat took third at 15:29.14.
