WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - California ended Friday with a second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay and claimed fourth place in the standings with one day remaining at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Purdue's Boilermaker Aquatic Center. The Golden Bears quartet of junior Hannah Wilson, sophomore Sara Isakovic, senior Lauren Boyle and sophomore Liv Jensen posted a time of 7:00.00 to finish behind winner Georgia in the relay. Cal has 256 points. Stanford leads NCAAs with 266.5 points, Georgia is second (262.5) and Arizona is third (259.5).

The Bulldogs swam a pool-record time of 6:55.61 to win the 800-free relay.

Cal also collected a third-place finish from junior Amanda Sims in the 100-yard butterfly on the second night of finals at the national meet. Wilson was fifth in a time of 52.11. Stanford's Elaine Breeden won the race with a pool-record time of 51.43.

The Bears opened the night by taking fourth place in the 200-medley relay. The Cal foursome of sophomore Colleen Fotsch, senior Alexandra Ellis, Sims and Jensen clocked a time of 1:37.64. Arizona won the relay in a pool-record 1:35.75.

Cal senior Heather White earned All-America honors by taking sixth place in the 400 individual medley A final in a time of 4:10.29. Freshman Caitlin Leverenz, the Cal record holder in the 400 IM (4:06.61), won the consolation final in a time of 4:07.00.

In the 200 free, sophomore Sara Isakovic took sixth in a time of 1:44.81 and Boyle placed 12th in a time of 1:45.68. In the 200-free prelim, Boyle swam a personal-best time of 1:45.64, which moves her into eighth place on Cal's all-time 200-free list.

Georgia's Allison Schmitt won the 200-free A final in a pool-record time of 1:42.84.

Wilson's time of 1:45.87 to lead off the 800-free relay makes her the 11th-fastest Bear in the 200 free.

"We're very pleased," Cal head coach Teri McKeever said. "That 800-free relay is just indicative of the character of this group, getting after it after two long days. With Heather White being an All-American, and people moving up, scoring points, it's been great. The medley relay came in seeded ninth and ended up getting fourth, which is exciting.

"Hannah Wilson continues to be a solid performer, Amanda Sims had a great effort, Ice [Sara Isakovic] was good and Lauren Boyle was helping out in the relays. I'm really, really proud of them. It's been a total team effort. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, and that's really, really cool."

The national meet concludes Saturday, with races in the 200 backstroke, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 400-free relay.
