CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. - After playing nine innings against Indiana immediately before taking on UMass, the No. 14 California softball team outshined the Minutewomen, 4-0, on Friday afternoon. The Golden Bears (7-1) carried their offensive powers from the first game right into the second, scoring two runs in the first and second to overpower UMass (2-4).

Junior left fielder Jamia Reid paced both sides with two hits, two runs and an RBI. Freshman shortstop Britt Vonk was right behind her with two hits, one run and an RBI. Sophomore hurler Jolene Henderson pitched a two-hitter, striking out 10 after she fanned 11 in the game prior.

In the first, Jamia Reid got on board with a single and Vonk walked with both coming around to score on an error in left field. The second inning saw classic offensive tendencies with a bunt and two hits to drive in Jordan Wallace and Jamia Reid to get Cal's last two runs of the game.

The Minutewomen failed to get a runner any further than second and Henderson got the final batter of the game out with a backwards K. Henderson improves to 7-1 while Sara Plourde drops to 2-3 after giving up five hits and two earned runs all the while chalking up 10 strikeouts.
