Bears Surprise Huskies, 10-0, in Five Innings

SEATTLE - The No. 9/12 California softball team upset No. 6/7 Washington, 10-0, in five innings on Friday evening. Thanks to the win, the Golden Bears improve to 24-6 overall and 2-2 in the Pac-10 Conference while the Huskies fall to 27-4 and also 2-2 in the Pac-10.

The Bears established a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and expanded on that to the fullest in the top of the fourth with eight runs.

"We really showed up today and got things done" Jolene Henderson said. "I'm proud of everyone for really stepping up and we just need to keep it up with the bats and defense."

Cal out hit UW, 11-4. Britt Vonk tallied three RBI while Frani Echavarria and Jordan Wallace had two RBI each.

Henderson struck out seven and walked three. She also allowed no earned runs.

In all, Britt Vonk, Victoria Jones and Jordan Wallace doubled while Britt Vonk, Wallace and Lindsey Ziegenhirt all homered.
