SEATTLE - Judging by the post-game celebration from the Huskies, a fan would think Washington had just advanced to the Women's College World Series. But that is just the kind of reaction that a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth elicits. Thanks to that home run, Washington defeated California, 2-1, in extra innings on Saturday afternoon.
With two outs in the sixth and Huskies at first and second, Pohlman singled to left to knot the game at 1-1.
Jones struck out to start the bottom of the eighth. The Huskies' Williams teed off for the game-winning hit.
Cal earned its lead in the top of the third thanks to Jace Williams lined the ball into center field on a full count.
The two teams will play for the series victory Sunday at noon. Cal run ruled UW on Friday evening, 10-5, in five innings.
