Cal, with several impressive wins this season, including Pac-10 sweeps over Washington State and Washington, and going undefeated at the Coastal Carolina Tournament and the Cal Baseball Classic at AT&T Park, will now see if it receives an at-large berth into an NCAA Regional. The selection show for the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship is Monday, May 30 at 9:30 a.m. (PT) on ESPN. The Bears have made the NCAA Tournament two of the last three years.

Stanford scored two runs off of sophomore left-hander Justin Jones (7-6, 8.0 innings, 12 hits, four runs, one walk, four strikeouts) in the top of the first inning on RBI singles by Stephen Piscotty and Austin Wilson. The Bears were able to get within 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning on junior right fielder Danny Oh's fielder's choice RBI off of Cardinal starter Jordan Pries (5-5, 7.1 innings, six hits, two runs, no earned runs, one walk, three strikeouts).

Stanford built its lead to 4-1 with single runs in the third inning on another RBI single by Wilson, and in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Tyler Gaffney. The Bears were able to make the final margin 4-2 with a run in the eighth inning when sophomore second baseman Tony Renda had a one-out single and later scored on Pries' throwing error trying to force a runner at second base.

Renda led Cal with two hits. Before the game the Bears' baseball program honored seniors Austin Booker, Kevin Miller and Dwight Tanaka in front of a crowd of 1,358 fans.
